Entry #4, Jolene Slagter (RSo., Roseville, Minn.)

This last weekend we had a tournament at home, so we got to defend the Dome! Most of our incoming freshman came to Vermillion for the weekend also, so that was a lot of fun. We played SDSU first and beat them both games. We were off to a great start and having fun, hopefully showing the incoming freshmen what it is like to play for USD. Next we played Iowa Lakes and that gave us time to work on trying new things and making sure everything was working on our side of the net. The last match we played was against Dort and we beat them the first game swiftly, but they fought back and beat us for the second. We wanted to play a third game against them so we could show them what we are made of, but they declined the third game. For the three days that we practiced, we working on ball control and individual workouts. We had Thursday and Friday off for Easter break. We look forward to our next week of practice to get ready for our final spring tournament at SDSU.
