Entry #3, Kristin Kritenbrink (So., Gretna, Neb.)
March 28 we played in Omaha, Nebraska to open our spring ball season. Losing our first match to UMKC was a tough way to start off the weekend. But, bouncing back after the defeat we swept South Dakota State in an intense three game match. Despite our 1-1 record we were not backing down for our third match of the day against Drake University. We came out fighting, but their quick offense made them tough to beat, although we did take one game away from them. Our last match of the day was one we were pumped for, against the hosting team, Creighton University. Coming out strong we took the first game away from them. But, Creighton isn't a team to back down; they fought back and took the last two games away from us. Although we only came out of the tournament with a 1-3 record, it was a great learning experience for our young team as well as motivation for our next tournament, April 4, in Vermillion.
Even after a long weekend tournament, the team was ready to get back on the court and prepare for our upcoming tournament. The team and coaches watched film from the previous matches to better prepare a practice schedule. All week we have been focusing on our blocking schemes and techniques as well as our defensive end of the game. Working hard all week in practice we feel ready and determined to take on any opponents we may face this weekend.
