Entry #2: Gina Baldwin (RJr., Mitchell, S.D.)

Finally! There is only one day of practice left before our spring competition begins. We all are really excited to finally get out there and compete against different teams and see all our hard work finally pay off. This week in practice we have been focusing on competing. The seniors from the 2008 team came to practice every day this week to give us a team to play against. It was fun to get to compete in practice and play against our old teammates. I felt like this week of practice helped everyone get back into volleyball mode and helped us get more comfortable playing with each other.

Other interesting volleyball news this week we had a 2010 recruit on campus for a visit. We got to visit with her before one of our practices and let her ask us any question she had, as well as give her our thoughts on the USD volleyball program, she then came up to the gym and observed our practice. It is always fun to have recruits come visit and to get to talk to them about USD volleyball.

Our tournament this weekend is at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. We will play four matches throughout the day competing against: University of Missouri Kansas City, South Dakota State, Drake, and Creighton. Our motto this off-season has been out work our opponents, and believe me we have been outworking all of our opponents all off-season long! Hopefully this weekend will be successful for us and GO YOTES!
