Entry #12, Bailey Reshel (Fr., Hortonville, Wis.)

After our weekend in Texas it’s so good to be back in Vermillion with two successful matches under our belts. We took both the Houston Baptist and Pan-American matches in three games, finally! We have been talking non-stop for the past few weeks about finishing and not letting teams hang around with us because, as coach says, anything can happen when you do. Even though neither of the matches had huge score gaps, we finally accomplished our goal: making runs when it really mattered AND not letting the opposing team do the same. Before this weekend we had altered our practices to focus almost solely on scoring five plus points in a row and error limitation drills. Our error limitations still was not as good as we would have liked (particularly in the Pan-American match), as well as our consistency in runs of points, but we got over that hump, and that is what we needed.

So, even with our victories, there is still work to be done of course. No one would ever guess what our focus in practice is going to be the next few weeks…runs of five or more and error limitation! Oooh yes. Now that we were able to show ourselves that we are capable controlling the pace of the game and pushing bigger runs, we just have to continue to work to perfect it. Which we will.

Go Yotes!
