Entry #1: (Jenna Hatfield-Senior, Norfolk, Neb.)

This week was our first week back to practice after a week long Spring Break. Our last practice before we left for break was one of the best we’ve had so far this spring, so the focus of this week was to get our endurance and intensity back up to where we left off. The week was definitely challenging both physically and mentally, but overall I feel like the team did a very good job and worked very hard. Even though we are fatigued right now it will definitely pay off next weekend, March 28th, when we have games all day at Creighton University. I think all the girls are really anxious to finally compete and I feel that everything is starting to fall in place on the court. We have some players learning new positions and I can tell they are starting to feel more comfortable in their new spot.

Also, this week we participated in a team community service night at the Vermillion Area Arts Council. They were hosting St. Patrick’s Day festivities which included dinner and live music, and we volunteered to help run the event. Some girls worked at the door taking money, others helped with the arts and crafts table for the children, some cleared tables, and we all helped clean up afterwards. It was a neat event to be a part of and they seemed to enjoy and appreciate our help.

We only have a month left of spring workouts and I think the team is very pleased with the progress we have made so far. I am really excited to see how we compete next weekend.
