Entry #6, Michell Marshall, So., West Des Moines, Iowa

Our team has girls from all over the country. Some girls rarely get to see their families throughout the entire year. Even though I am only three hours from home and my parents are able to come to some of our games, especially the home ones, I sometimes feel lonely without my family. I miss the great hugs that my mom gives me every time I see her, the yummy home cooked meals, and just sitting around the table talking with the family.

Fortunately for our team here at USD we have a family that has taken us in and has given us a home away from home. They invite our whole team over for potluck dinners and as we walk up to their house, all eight kids have big smiles on their faces. I feel pretty special when I am at their house. We may not be the best soccer team in the country, but we have the best family!
