USD Sports Information Coordinator

Former USD women’s basketball player Jeana Hoffman was recently featured in an article by Matt Bunke of the Mitchell Daily Republic. Hoffman played professional basketball last season in Holland. Hoffman was a two-time All-North Central Conference selection at USD, and was the league MVP in 2007-08. Hoffman was a vital part of the Coyotes’ run to the Division II national championship game in 2007-08. According to the article, Hoffman averaged 21 points and six rebounds per game for Leiderdorp, the professional team which she was a part of. Hoffman was named the Team’s MVP. The native of Mitchell said she’s “keeping her options open” when it comes to her basketball career. The full article can be found at http://www.mitchellrepublic.com/event/article/id/33723/

Jeremy Hoeck of Yankton wrote an article earlier this week on the renewing the USD-SDSU women’s basketball rivalry. Among those interviewed for the store were former Coyote standouts Mandy Koupal (a current graduate assistant at USD) and Meghan Woster.

2009 Coyote Golf Tour

The 2009 Coyote Golf Tour has its second stop today (June 12) at the Red Rock Golf Club in Rapid City, S.D. The first stop was held at the Dakota Dunes Golf Club in Dakota Dunes, S.D. on May 18.

Both events have had excellent turnouts. It’s a great chance for USD supporters and fans to interact with Coyote coaches and administrators – and have some fun on the golf course at the same.

There is still time to sign up for the final event, which will be held on Monday, June 29 at Willow Run Golf Club in Sioux Falls, S.D. Cost is $100 per golfer and also includes a meal. For more information on the final event, check out the Coyote Golf Tour Page at http://www.usdcoyotes.com/info/golf_tour/index09.asp

Former Coyote athletes

Former USD football player T. J. Simmons has established himself as a strong kick returner for the Sioux Falls Storm of the Indoor Football League. Simmons has 33 returns for 641 yards and a touchdown. He is averaging 19.4 yards per return. Two other former Coyotes are playing on defense for the Storm: Mark Blackburn is second on the team in tackles at 34, while Andre Fields has 12 tackles.
