The NCAA released its final softball statistical report for 2010, and several USD players are ranked. Senior Callie Roan ranked second in the nation in sacrifice hits per game (0.40). Roan finished the year with a team-high 19 hits and finished in the top five in USD history in that category.
Sophomore Alexa Rudeen finished tied for 34th in the nation with 0.31 doubles per game. She led USD with 16 during the season – leading the Great West Conference – and had a team-high 19 extra-base hits overall.
Junior Lexie Eversley ranked high in an unusual stat – being hit by a pitch. Eversley was tied for 38th in being hit by a pitch at 0.25 per game. She was hit by a pitch 12 times in 2010, leading USD by far in that category.
Junior Mel Johnson, the 2010 Great West Conference Pitcher of the Year, was tied for 115th in pitching wins with 16. That ranking is out of more than 300 collegiate pitchers. Johnson also led the conference with 135 strikeouts.
In the Great West Conference, senior Michelle Jones finished third with 32 RBI, while also tying for third with seven home runs. Roan led the Great West with 25 walks and 9 sacrifices as well.
