Kit Strief

Christopher “Kit” Strief assumed the position of sports information director at the University of South Dakota on July 11, 2011. Strief previously served as assistant athletic director for media relations and operations for three years at Montana State University Billings, assuming that title on July 1, 2008. He began at MSUB in December of 2007, serving his first six months as director of media relations and operations for the MSUB NCAA Division II program.

His previous work experience includes two years of service as director of sport media relations at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, (2005-2007), where he was in charge of media relations/publicity for 17 Division I sports. Strief also completed a year-long graduate internship at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida, in 2004-05. While at DWWS, Strief worked in media relations/publicity and in client services/promotions.

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Strief held the position of assistant media relations director at the University of Northern Iowa prior to attending graduate school at Wichita State University. He has also held sports information internships at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Indiana University and University of South Carolina-Aiken.

Strief earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communications and Radio/TV from Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2000 and a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Wichita State University in May, 2005. Strief is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
